The September debut of the Dr. Laura Schlessinger TV show continues to ride a bumpy road. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Stop Dr. Laura!" Coalition continue to ask for a sponsor and viewer boycott of the "Dr. Laura Show." (On her highly rated syndicated radio show, Dr. Laura slammed gays, though she later apologized.) Street protests have so far been held in Hollywood, Chicago and Dallas. An Atlanta demonstration is planned for May 9, and Washington D.C. is expected to see Dr. Laura's foes en masse come the April 30 gay-themed Millennium March, says USA Today. Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that a rocky run-through of Dr. Laura's show took place last week, with the hostess appearing awkward before the cameras. Schlessinger's spokesperson told the paper, "By the third day, she was not having any problems at all."
