The cartoonists of America made good on their promise to honor the late "Peanuts" creator Charles M. Schulz this weekend. On Saturday, more than 80 strips honored Charlie Brown and the gang. In the "Blondie" strip, Dagwood asked his boss, Mr. Dithers, for a raise, explaining, "I'm working for peanuts." (Replied Dithers: "Well, Charles Schulz made a good living working for peanuts.") Beetle Bailey -- along with Gen. Halftrack and Sgt. Snorkel -- saluted a blimp with Snoopy on its side. "Cathy" wrote a personal ad -- looking for a guy with "the heart of Charlie Brown (and) the spirit of Snoopy." Saturday night in New York, Jean Schulz, widow of Charles, accepted the National Cartoonists Society's lifetime achievement award on behalf of her husband, who died of colon cancer last February.
