Bob Hope's latest one-liner to fans is "Tell them I'm winning." The legendary 97-year-old comic, hospitalized in Rancho Mirage, Calif., late last week with internal bleeding, is said to be on the road to recovery and accepted a phone call from former President Gerald Ford and wife Betty over the weekend. Hope's condition has been upgraded from critical to stable, staff at Eisenhower Regional Medical Center said Sunday. Meanwhile, thousands of cards, faxes, e-mail and flowers are said to be descending upon the hospital, wishing Hope well. "He is up, walking around," hospital spokeswoman Lea Goodsell said. She also said that Hope's wife of 66 years, Dolores, 91, hasn't left her husband's side since he was admitted last Thursday -- except to attend Mass yesterday.
