Country Stars' Court Case: Whoa

That pony ride in upstate New York that landed country stars Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney in the slammer last weekend is having its day in court postponed, so all sides can look into the matter. Erie County sheriff's deputies claim that Chesney hightailed it on a deputy's horse (after the two stars performed at a music festival) and that McGraw clashed with police who tried to stop the ride. McGraw, 33, who is married to country star Faith Hill, was charged with second-degree assault (a felony), obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $2,500. Chesney, 32, was charged with disorderly conduct. His bail: $100. McGraw's attorney, claiming that "sworn statements from eyewitnesses . . . clearly indicate that Kenny Chesney had permission to ride the horse," said in a statement that a lengthy court postponement will lead to further investigation of the case. He believes charges will be dropped "with no hard feelings on either side."
