Shandling to Host Emmys
Garry Shandling will fill the shoes of David Hyde Pierce and Jenna Elfman -- all four of them -- when he hosts ABC's broadcast of the 52nd Annual Primetime Emmys, to air from 8-11 on Sunday night, Sept. 10. Hyde Pierce and Elfman cohosted last year. (The network reportedly may air a special edition of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" as a lead-in to the Emmys.) Shandling, who has hosted the Grammys three times, and won a 1998 writing Emmy for HBO's "The Larry Sanders Show" (but is not in the running for anything this year), told Variety, "I'm really looking forward to the Emmys this year, because there is nothing I can lose except my dignity." Nominations for this year's Emmys will be announced on July 20.
