Indianapolis Colts running back Fred Lane, 24, was shot and killed by his wife, Deidra Lane, 25, during a domestic dispute on Thursday, say police. Lane was pronounced dead at the couple's North Carolina home. (Lane was formerly with the Carolina Panthers, until he was traded to the Colts last April after several brushes with the law, including misdemeanor drug charges.) Authorities said Deidra Lane, who filed a complaint against her husband in March for causing her to fall, is the shooter but they have so far decided not to file charges against her. Prosecutors are investigating. In addition to a wife, Lane is survived by two children, one who is five and another who is only a week-old.
