Wimbledon's Sister Act

08/28/1998 at 12:00 AM EDT

Tennis star Venus Williams, 20, defeated top-ranked Martina Hingis, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, on Tuesday, to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals today, where her opponent will be her 18-year-old sister, Serena Williams (who defeated Lisa Raymond, 6-2, 6-0). Their father, Richard Williams, says that he doesn't know which child to root for -- though he won't be watching his daughters courtside. He's told NBC News that he has a funeral to attend today. He also compared today's upcoming match to a funeral. When it's over, he says, someone is going to be buried.

  • Over the weekend, Wimbledon got a taste of the '70s, when a middle-aged man named Mark Roberts stepped on to the court during a ball change at a doubles match and streaked the crowd. (Anna Kournikova hid her face behind a towel). He executed a somersault over the net and did a dance before guards finally hauled him away.
