- Today, Eminem (whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is scheduled to appear in a Michigan courtroom for a preliminary hearing on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. The charges stem from accusations that on June 4 he used an unloaded gun to pistol-whip a man he allegedly saw kissing Kim Mathers outside of a suburban Detroit nightclub.

Kim Mathers, wife of chart-busting rapper Eminem, attempted suicide at the couple's suburban Detroit home on Friday night, said a representative of the Grammy winner's record label. Police in Sterling Heights, Mich., said that at 11:30 p.m. they responded to a medical emergency at the home of Eminem, where they found Kim and treated her. Eminem was performing in nearby Auburn Hills, Mich., at the time. Police had been told that Kim, 25, had tried to kill herself. Though they did not provide further details, sources say she slit her wrists. She was eventually taken to a hospital for observation and later released. "Eminem is obviously concerned about his wife's well-being," Dennis Dennehy, of Interscope Records, told the Associated Press. He added that the incident is "a private matter, which they'll be addressing privately."
