Star Wars at Political Conventions

The Republican National Convention kicks off in Philadelphia today, and as is usual at such times, the stars are lining up for their favorite candidates. Reportedly backing George W. Bush are pro wrestler The Rock, country singer Loretta Lynn, actors Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Rick Schroder and Bo Derek, Jim Nantz of CBS Sports and former San Francisco 49ers football star Steve Young. The Democrats, who gather in Los Angeles for their convention next month, do slightly better in the star power department. Those who have contributed financially to the Al Gore campaign reportedly include Nicolas Cage, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Tommy Lee Jones, Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro and Kevin Costner -- who used to be a familiar figure in the George Bush White House.
