Hurley Ticks Off Peers

Flying in the face of the current 12-week-old Screen Actors Guild strike against advertisers, Elizabeth Hurley, 35, has incurred the wrath of her fellow SAG members for shooting a non-union commercial for cosmetics giant Estee Lauder. "She was completely unaware of the situation because she doesn't live in this country and she is extremely apologetic about it," Hurley's agent, Tracey Jacobs, told Variety. (Additionally, said Jacobs, the ad will not be shown in the U.S.) "Had she known it was struck work, she would have never done it. She is very supportive of her union." SAG spokesman Greg Krizman said that the union is looking into the matter. Since the strike began, there have been a few high-profile members who have defied the union, among them retired General Colin Powell; football players Kurt Warner, Terrell Davis, Eddie George and Keyshawn Johnson; and basketball star Shaquille O'Neal -- who later formally apologized for making a Disneyland commercial after the NBA finals.
