Bush Picks Cheney, Barbra Picks Enrique
While Republican Presidential candidate George W. Bush is due to announce today that former Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney will be his running mate, the Democrats are busy rolling out their rosters for two major fund-raising events next month. Those expected to appear at the Aug. 12 Hollywood Gala Salute to President Clinton at Kenny Rogers's ranch include Cher, Luther Vandross, David Spade and Toni Braxton, reports Variety, which says that the tribute will also pour money into Hillary Clinton's New York senatorial campaign. As for Barbra Streisand's Aug. 17 "Nomination Celebration Concert" for Al Gore, for which the top ticket price is $50,000 per couple, La Babs is expected to be joined by Enrique Iglesias, Boyz II Men and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, say reports.
