'Springer' Guests Sought in Slaying
A confrontation on "The Jerry Springer Show" could have led to murder. In an episode that was taped in May and was broadcast Monday, Ralf Panitz and his wife, Eleanor Panitz, accused his former wife (who appeared on the show) of stalking them. Shortly after the broadcast, the body of Nancy Campbell-Panitz was found dead, said Florida's Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. "This is a terrible tragedy," said a spokeswoman for the Springer show, which is cooperating with the investigation, she told the Associated Press. Investigators would not reveal how the victim was killed but did categorize the 52-year-old woman's death as a homicide and confirmed that they are searching for Panitz, 40, and his new wife, 45. The episode on which the three people appeared was called "Secret Mistresses Confronted."
