Darryl Strawberry Surgery
Yankees outfielder Darryl Strawberry was recovering in a New York hospital on Monday, following surgery to remove a cancerous mass near his kidney. This is the second cancer surgery for the slugger, who was first treated for colon cancer in 1998. A hospital spokesperson said doctors were "optimistic for an uneventful recovery," reports the Associated Press. Last February, Strawberry was suspended from the Yankees after testing positive for drug use. He recently checked himself out of a drug rehabilitation program in Florida and has expressed an interest in returning to baseball.
