Rap superstar Eminem, 27, officially declined his mother's offer to settle her $10 million defamation lawsuit against him for $2 million, reveal court papers. Debbie Mathers-Briggs, of St. Joseph, Mo., filed a lawsuit last September, alleging that her son (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III) defamed and slandered her in various broadcast and print interviews by describing her as unstable, litigious and an abuser of drugs. He has referred to his family as "the epitome of white trash." Eminem is now scheduled to give a deposition in the ongoing case on Sept. 13. The Grammy winner also awaits word on his arrest in June for allegedly pistol-whipping a man outside of a Detroit club. His latest release, "The Marshall Mathers LP," was only recently bumped from the top of the Billboard charts.
