Diana Gets TV Treatment

A TV documentary due to air in Britain tomorrow night will reveal that in May of 1997 -- a few months before her death -- Princess Diana asked former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan to help broker her marriage to London-based heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, according to London's Sunday Telegraph. "She had been involved with him for two years and she wanted to marry him," the paper quotes Imran as saying in the documentary. He goes on to claim that Diana's relationship with Dodi Fayed, who died with her and the driver in the car crash, was possibly designed to make the doctor jealous. "It was clear that she was deeply in love with Dr. Hasnat, and I just don't think she could have got over it that quickly," Imran says. Meanwhile, producers are weighing whether or not to use Diana's actual voice for an upcoming British TV movie, "The Biographer," based on author Andrew Morton's exploits reporting and writing his controversial 1992 book, "Diana: Her True Story." Variety reports that the filmmakers are looking into the legal issues of using the real Diana's voice -- to be heard over the actual interview tapes Morton has of the late ex-royal -- as opposed to relying upon an actress to interpret her words.
