Pearl Jam Takes Concert Precautions
Pearl Jam is looking to play it safe after their June concert in Denmark, where nine fans died as a result of their rushing the stage and causing a crush. In anticipation of an outdoor concert at New York's Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center, the grunge rock group has asked fans to leave their blankets at home. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we have witnessed a number of injuries as a result of blankets being used as trampolines," Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis told the Associated Press. Fans will also be prevented from rushing the stage: After a 1992 concert by the band at the Saratoga venue, metal barriers were installed.
