The Diana Anniversary

As threatened, Mohamed Al Fayed, owner of Harrods department store in London, announced yesterday that he would sue the U.S. federal government for access to all the information it has on the high-speed car accident that killed his son, Dodi Fayed, and Princess Diana exactly three years ago today. Al Fayed has long insisted that British Intelligence killed the couple as part of a hit planned by the British Royal Family, which reportedly opposed a marriage between his son and Diana. (That the couple had planned to marry is a topic in dispute, even though Al Fayed displays Diana's supposed engagement ring in a special display in the basement of Harrods.) The Royal Family shrugs off the accusation, NBC News said in a report from London this morning, which also noted that outside Diana's former residence, Kensington Palace, a crowd was in attendance to pay its respects.
