Kathie Lee Gifford may not want to hear this, but since she left "Live!" on July 28, the cohost she left behind, Regis Philbin, has seen the show's rating shoot up by 26% -- compared to last year's Nielsen ratings for the same three weeks. The ratings surge comes after Gifford and Philbin sat together for 15 years. Explained the show's executive producer, Michael Gelman, to the Associated Press, "When she said goodbye, it opened us up to a whole new audience of those who either might not have been fans or hadn't even thought about the show." Since Gifford's exit, Philbin has been sharing hosting duties with Dolly Parton and Lea Thompson, among others. Upcoming cohosts are said to include Sarah Ferguson, Whoopi Goldberg, Raquel Welch and Gloria Estefan. A permanent cohost is still being sought.
