Drug Charges For Houston

Several months after one of her bags was allegedly found to contain marijuana and seized at a Hawaiian airport, Whitney Houston, 37, faces misdemeanor drug charges by Hawaiian prosecutors, reports USA Today. A security guard at the Keahole-Kona International airport reportedly found 15.2 grams of marijuana in Houston's bag last January, as the pop singer was ready to board a flight back home to New Jersey. Houston, who was not detained, boarded the plane before police arrived. Hawaiian prosecutors are now asking Houston to turn herself in before the Oct. 26 arraignment date. The drug charge carries a 30-day jail term and $1,000 fine. Speculation that Houston has a substance abuse problem has dogged the performer for much of the year. In April, a source told PEOPLE, "There's a lot of denial from the people around Whitney." In July, Houston's husband Bobby Brown completed a jail sentence in Florida for violating probation on a 1996 drunk driving conviction.
