Jackie's Wedding Clock: $25,000
A clock that was featured in a 1953 wedding photo of Jackie and John Kennedy went for $25,000 at an auction yesterday. The brass-mounted Dutch marquetry long-case clock was sold at Christie's East in Manhattan to Judy Cutler, director of the National Museum of American Illustration in Newport, R.I., reports the New York Post. The piece had belonged to Jackie's stepfather, Hugh D. Achincloss Jr., and was part of his collection of furniture and mementos at the family summer residence at Newport's Hammersmith Farm. It stood in the rear of the bride and groom in their wedding shot, just as Jackie was about to toss her floral bouquet.
