Spice Girl Victoria Beckham –- a.k.a. Posh Spice --is to be an author, and a very well-compensated one. At the current Frankfurt Book Fair, an international gathering of book publishers, the pop star has sold the rights to her upcoming 100,000-word autobiography for what is said to be nearly $1.5 million, reportedly a record for the memoirs of a British celebrity. "We are publishing Victoria's autobiography for an undisclosed substantial sum," Sophie Brewer of Penguin Books told Reuters. The publishing company's Tom Weldon, who commissioned the book, refused to comment on the advance paid to Beckham, but said, "Victoria Beckham is probably Britain's most famous celebrity today. She is Britain's new Princess Diana." Besides her career with the Spice Girls, Beckham is known for her marriage to the British football star David Beckham, who is something of a national hero. Her book is said to be largely devoted to the story of their relationship. No word yet on a publication date.
