Favre's Oily Ad Pulled
A TV commercial for Pennzoil starring Green Bay Packer and actor ("There's Something About Mary") Brett Favre has been yanked by court order. In a Houston courtroom Thursday, U.S. District Judge Alfred M. Wolin called the ad "repugnant" and in violation of federal advertising laws, reports the Associated Press. Still to be decided is whether or not Pennzoil must pay damages to its competitor, Castrol, which had brought the suit, and whether Pennzoil will appeal. In the ad, Pennzoil claims to be superior to all other oil products. To prove it, quarterback Favre rubs Castrol under his eyes, suggesting that the product's only useful purpose is as black greasepaint to reduce the glare of sunlight during football games.
