Actress Shelley Fabares, 56, who grew up before America's eyes as Mary Stone on "The Donna Reed Show" and was last seen as Christine Armstrong on the show "Coach," is recuperating in Los Angeles after liver transplant surgery, her spokesman, Danny Chung, said yesterday. Fabares -- the niece of actress Nanette Fabray ("The Bandwagon") and the wife of actor Mike Farrell ("Providence," "M*A*S*H") -- is "doing well, and doctors do expect a full recovery," said Chung. He added that the actress suffered a deterioration of her liver as the result of an "auto-immune" disorder. He would not elaborate further. Besides her TV roles, Fabares made movies in the '60s, most notably with Elvis Presley: "Girl Happy," "Spinout," and "Clambake."
