Anthony Dwain Lee, 39, who appeared in the 1997 film "Liar Liar" and on "NYPD Blue," was shot and killed at a Halloween party in Los Angeles early Saturday by a police officer who mistook Lee's fake gun for a real one, according to Reuters. The police officer, Tarriel Hopper, was investigating a noisy Halloween party full of entertainment industry professionals when the incident occurred. Police say Hopper and Officer Natalie Humphreys were attempting to find the owner of the home after neighbors complained about the party. The officers were at the rear of the house when Hopper looked into a small room and spotted three people. According to a statement issued by the Los Angeles Police Department, when Lee spotted the officers, he pulled what looked like a handgun and pointed it at Hopper, who then fired several times and wounded Lee. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene. Mitch Hale, a writer whose play "Buffalo Soldier" starred Lee, told the Los Angeles Times, "He was a Buddhist. He hated violence . . . It's devastating." The incident is under investigation.
