In what came as no surprise, Eminem -- aka Marshall Bruce Mathers III -- serenaded his fans Thursday night at Toronto's mammoth SkyDome stadium, despite some earlier political machinations to keep the controversial rapper out of Canada. Some Ontario legislators, including the Attorney General, made the attempt to censor the Grammy winner, claiming that his lyrics promote violence against women. Immigration Department spokesman Derik Hodgson, however, told the Associated Press before the performance that Eminem, 26, wouldn't be kept out of America's neighbor to the north. "If you listen to his lyrics or read them, they're abhorrent," Hodgson said. "But having said that, if somebody's seeking entry into Canada and they're convicted of a crime . . . we can deny them entry. He hasn't been convicted of anything." A spokesman for the Michigan-based Eminem, when this latest brouhaha kicked up earlier this week, said that the concert would go on as scheduled, which it did.
