Madonna to Marry -- Or Not?

Questions over the marital future of the Material Mom and her boyfriend, movie director Guy Ritchie, continue to swirl in force in the wake of some recent remarks Madonna made about tying the knot. On Wednesday, the pop star, 42, reportedly said "Guy has asked me to marry him and I've said yes, but we haven't decided when yet." She went on to say that the two of them are both too busy to get married before Christmas but that they planned to march down the aisle soon afterward. The interview appeared in Britain's sensational Sun tabloid. Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, has confirmed to New York's Daily News that Madonna did, indeed, speak to the Sun and that Madonna and Ritchie are engaged. (Ritchie is the father of Madonna's second child, Rocco, born four months ago. Madonna's daughter, Lourdes, is 3.) But, Rosenberg added, the interview took place because Madonna wanted to stop the rumors that she and Ritchie, 32, were about to be married in Scotland -- and that Madonna happened to tell Britain's Capital Radio that Ritchie has yet to ask her to marry her.
