Melanie Griffith, fresh out of a Southern California rehab clinic where earlier this month she battled her self-admitted addiction to prescription painkillers, was spotted in Manhattan yesterday, doing some Christmas shopping and taping an interview with the cable TV series "Inside the Actors Studio." A photo in today's edition of the New York Post shows the actress, 43, looking radiant. On her Web site, MelanieGriffith.com, she has been chronicling her detox process, which reportedly began when doctors made her aware that she was hooked on a painkiller she was taking for a neck injury. Of the 12-step program (from which she graduated in a scant eight days), Griffith writes, "All of us who have lost control and have a compulsion to use a drug feel embarrassed, ashamed and guilty about our behavior. We need a non-judgmental setting in which we can feel accepted, recover our lives and spirit in a loving and supportive group."
