Celine: A Second Child
Celine Dion, 32, may have temporarily retired to have a baby, but in an interview last night on French Quebec's TVA she admitted that not only will her heart go on, but so will her eggs. The pop diva, who is on schedule to deliver a son around Valentine's Day, said that she has a second fertilized embryo stored at a New York fertility clinic and that she hopes one day to give her soon-to-be newborn "a laboratory twin. Technically, it is called a twin. It does not mean they are identical twins but they were conceived at the same time," she said. Dion and her husband-manager, René Angelil, 58, conceived through in vitro fertilization, she has admitted. During the course of Sunday's 90-minute Q&A, she revealed that the couple has not yet chosen a name for their first child, but it might include "Rene." The TV interview came just days after Angelil forced a popular Quebec magazine, 7 Jours, to destroy about 200,000 copies of an issue carrying the cover story, "My Son Already Has a Twin." He claimed that the story was sensationalized.
