2001 Goes to the Dogs
Forget those fireman calendars. Forget those swimsuit calendars (sorry, Sports Illustrated). But the 2001 calendar that's causing the loudest howls comes from Purina, the pet food and products people. Its calendar of pinup pooches and their humans benefits homeless pets and is featured in this morning's edition of New York's Daily News. The smiling collie Sunny is the February dog of the month. (It doesn't hurt that Sunny lives with Claudia Schiffer.) 'N Sync is in there in all their splendor -- and with all their dogs. The canines accompany the guys on tour, too . . . all, that is, except Baron, J.C. Chasez's Akita-shepherd mix. He's too big to squeeze on to the bus. But leave it to that cosmopolitan couple, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick (who grace the calendar's cover), to boast a most talented dog. It turns out that Sally, their Border collie mix, "not only speaks perfect English," the calendar claims, "but also speaks French and Italian."
