"Charmed" star Shannen Doherty, 29, was arrested in Southern California early Thursday morning on suspicion of drunken driving after she was pulled over for driving erratically on the Ventura Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star was traveling alone in the Thousand Oaks area north of Los Angeles when her 2001 Ford pickup was observed "weaving in the northbound lanes," said CHP spokesman Mike Moriarty. He told reporters that Doherty was given a field sobriety test before she was arrested and booked into the sheriff's jail facility in Ventura County at 5:35 a.m. She then had blood drawn at Ventura County Medical Center to determine her blood alcohol level and was returned to jail. She was released several hours later on her own recognizance. Results of the blood test are pending. Doherty, who must appear in court Jan. 26 on the charge, once made frequent headlines for her brushes with the law. This included a 1996 incident outside a West Hollywood bar after which she agreed to attend anger management counseling for having smashed a beer bottle on a car window during an argument.
