The question of whether or not controversial rapper Eminem might be blessed by the mainstream-minded National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences was answered shortly before noon in Beverly Hills today with the announcement of this year's Grammy nominations. The musician received four Grammy nods, including those for album of the year for "The Marshall Mathers LP." Yet it was "gangsta" rapper Dr. Dre who showed up Eminem, his foul-mouthed protégé -- by getting five nominations to Eminem's four. Beyonce Knowles, a member of female R&B trio Destiny's Child, also picked up five nods. Vince Gill took four, including best country album. Record of the year nominees are Destiny's Child for "Say My Name," 'N Sync for "Bye Bye Bye," Madonna for "Music," Macy Gray for "I Try" and U2 for "Beautiful Day." Up against Eminem for album of the year are Beck for "Midnite Vultures," Radiohead for "Kid A," Paul Simon for "You're The One" and Steely Dan for "Two Against Nature." Song of the year nominees: U2's "Beautiful Day," Faith Hill's "Breathe," Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance," Macy Gray's "I Try" and Destiny's Child's "Say My Name." The 43rd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS on Feb. 21.
