Eminem may have said in the past that he does not "give a damn" about the Grammys, but frankly, my dear, Grammy cares about him. Officials of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences are said to be openly wooing the controversial rap star, 28, into joining them for the 43rd annual Grammy Awards, reports Reuters. The ceremony is scheduled to be aired live on Feb. 21 on CBS. But, as of Tuesday, the Detroit musician still wasn't giving a damn -- at least to the point of not committing to whether or not he would perform. Earlier this month, Eminem received four Grammy nominations, including one for album of the year (for "The Marshall Mathers LP"). Last year he took home two Grammys in rap categories. But in his hit single, "The Real Slim Shady," which appears on the "LP," he sings: "You think I give a damn about a Grammy? Half you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me." Earlier this week, Academy President Michael Greene said that his group and Eminem's label, Interscope Records, were discussing what the star "would do if he were on the show," including questions of song selection and "production elements."
