There are some angry people at Warner Bros. in the wake of shock rocker Marilyn Manson's telling London's Sun tabloid that he's set to play the sweet candy-maker Willy Wonka in a remake of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." Gene Wilder played Wonka, a creation of novelist Roald Dahl's, in the cult 1971 movie musical, and a spokesman for the studio (which, like PEOPLE, is part of AOL Time Warner) told the New York Post, "I don't know why (Manson) would say this. The lead hasn't been cast yet, but I can definitely tell you that it won't be Marilyn Manson." Manson, who claimed to be a big Wonka fan, had added in his London interview that he intended to play the lead character as if he were Satan. Gary Ross, who co-wrote the 1988 Tom Hanks comedy "Big" and who wrote and directed 1998's "Pleasantville," is set to direct the "Wonka" remake. He told the Post, "I would never cast Marilyn Manson in a billion years! It's insane!"
