The controversy swirling around rapper Eminem seems to be accelerating -- British gay activists are now pointing the finger at the rapper for promoting homophobia, according to Reuters. The finger-pointing comes just as Eminem, AGE, is set to perform a series of concerts that have triggered much controversy. "It is easy to imagine Eminem as a woman-hating, repressed gay man," Peter Tatchell of the protest group Outrage said in a statement. "He appears to be very insecure about his sexual identity." Tatchell says he believes Eminem is intentionally avoiding public engagements so he can avoid being confronted. "He is deliberately avoiding public engagements in order to deny us a chance to confront him," Tatchell said. "It is very difficult to do anything at the concerts as security is so tight," he added. Eminem has already been targeted by critics in the United States as being too violent to appear at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Feb. 21, mostly because of the lyrics on his album "The Marshall Mathers LP," which has sold 10 million copies worldwide. Though he's received four nominations, he hasn't yet announced whether or not he plans to perform on the show. The San Francisco-based Family Violence Prevention Fund, an anti-violence group, has launched a "No to Eminem" campaign to keep him off the awards ceremony. The nominations for the Detroit rapper have also come under fire from the Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
