He may claim to not "give a damn" about the Grammys, but controversial rapper Eminem has announced that he will perform at the music awards show on Feb. 21, reports Reuters. Eminem, 28, who has been nominated for four Grammys, will join a star-studded entertainment lineup including Madonna, U2, Destiny's Child and Dolly Parton. The announcement will no doubt enrage members of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and other groups that have been protesting the rapper's potential involvement with the show. They allege that his lyrics are homophobic and entice violence against women. A spokeswoman for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which presents the awards, said details about Eminem's performance, including what song he would sing, have not been ironed out. In "The Real Slim Shady," a hit single from "The Marshall Mathers LP," he sings: "You think I give a damn about a Grammy? Half you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me." Still, artists who appear on the Grammys generally enjoy a boost in record sales. Meanwhile, in other Eminem news, police in London Friday studied videotapes of the rapper's concert in Manchester. Asked about reports that he had urged the audience to take Ecstasy tablets, Chief Inspector Steve White confirmed that police were "looking to see if he was inciting people to take drugs," but added that Eminem would not be taken in for questioning "at this stage," according to Reuters.
