Cosby Killer Admits Guilt

The young Ukrainian immigrant convicted of killing Bill Cosby's son in 1997 during a botched carjacking has admitted his guilt, apologized and said he no longer wants to pursue an appeal, the prosecutor who's handling the case said Friday. Kyle Brodie, a deputy attorney general acting for the state of California in the appeal case, released the contents of a letter in which convicted killer Michael Markhasev, 22, admitted that he shot 27-year-old Ennis Cosby at point blank range in January 1997 when he stopped by the side of a Los Angeles road to change a flat tire. "I'm guilty and I want to do the right thing," Markhasev wrote to Brodie. Markhasev also said that he wanted to abandon the appeal because "it's based on falsehood and deceit," Brodie told Reuters. In the letter, Markhasev also added, "More than anything I want to apologize to the victim's family. It is my duty as a Christian and it is the least I can do after the great wickedness for which I am responsible." A spokesman for the Cosby family was not immediately available for comment.
