"Monday Night Football" producer Don Ohlmeyer, 56, the man credited with putting comic Dennis Miller in the broadcast booth, resigned on Monday, three days short of the first anniversary of his return to the ABC sports program. "I had a terrific time this year producing 'MNF,' but I just could not continue to put myself through the stressful traveling that goes with the job," Ohlmeyer was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Ohlmeyer produced the show in the 1970s during its heyday with commentators Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford. The producer was rehired by ABC last March 8 and given free reign. Ratings for the show have been slipping steadily. No replacement has so far been announced.
