Rain didn't dampen attendance at Saturday night's 3rd Annual TV Guide Awards ceremony, which drew out such stars as Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, Noah Wyle, Bette Midler, Robert Downey Jr., David E. Kelley, Michelle Pfeiffer and Katie Couric (with beau Tom Werner), reports PEOPLE. The biggest surprise of the evening seemed to be when Rod Stewart joined Vonda Shepard (of "Ally McBeal") on stage for a duet. "I'm so unaware of who is who," quipped Sheen about the performance. Of Stewart, he said, "I thought it was Wayne Newton." For "Malcolm in the Middle" star Jane Kaczmarek, the night was a good excuse for a date with hubby Bradley Whitford ("The West Wing"). The two presented an award together. "It's nicer to be a presenter," said Kaczmarek. "You know you're just going to have a good time." Winning an award seemed to suit Couric just fine, however. As did being with boyfriend Werner, who kept stroking her on her back and leaning close to her during the show. Couric had flown in from New York to accept her award. So what was she planning on doing with the gold statue when she got back home? "Gosh, I haven't really thought about it," she told PEOPLE. "I'll probably put it in my office next to my countless Emmys. No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding."
