Ramseys Settle with Globe

John and Patsy Ramsey, parents of the slain 6-year-old JonBenet, settled a $35 million lawsuit against the Globe supermarket tabloid over Nov. 1998 stories that suggested their son, Burke (now 14), molested and murdered his sister, reports the Daily Camera newspaper of Boulder, Colo. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Ramsey lawyer Lin Wood told the Associated Press that he could not comment beyond saying, "The parties are pleased with the resolution." Globe publisher Tony Frost declined comment. The Ramseys have filed several other libel suits against news organizations and book publishers. Last year, the couple settled a $25 million lawsuit against the Star for linking Burke to his sister's still-unsolved death. Meanwhile, in Atlanta on Thursday, former Ramsey housekeeper Linda Hoffmann-Pugh sued the couple for $50 million in libel damages, claiming that their book falsely named her as a suspect in JonBenet's Dec. 1996 murder.
