It was the prosecution's time to conclude its arguments in the trial of Sean "Puffy" Combs on Tuesday, and New York state attorney Matthew Bogdanos did not mince his words, reports PEOPLE. Likening the headline-grabbing incident at Club New York in December 1999 to the Kennedy assassination, he said in court, "Not since 1963 in Dallas has anyone said a single bullet could do so much." While Bogdanos was laying out the case against Combs's co-defendant Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, Barrow prayed, crossed himself and, at one point, was holding back tears. "There's really no serious argument that Mr. Barrow did fire a gun that night," said Bogdanos. "In effect, the defense is conceding the gun charges. But really the defense is conceding a shooting that might as well be on videotape." On Monday, in the defense's closing arguments, Combs's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, told the jury: "If ever there was a case where the reasonable doubts jump off the page, this is the case." Before a packed courtroom, Brafman said that of the 50 to 60 witnesses called to the stand in the case, only three testified that Combs had a gun. "And what are the odds that the two people who suggest that Mr. Combs had a weapon are people who have suits against him for hundreds of millions of dollars? It's almost like 'Who Wants to Be a Billionaire,' " Brafman said. The case, which has been going on for seven weeks, is now set to go to the jury.
