British designer Stella McCartney, daughter of the ex-Beatle Paul and the late Linda, will be leaving the French fashion designer Chloe and setting up shop with Italy's Gucci, where she will design her own line of clothing, Reuters reported on Monday -- the same day that the Associated Press broke the news that her famous father, 58, had bought a $4 million, 4,700-square-foot house in the Hollywood Hills from Courtney Love (who in 1997 had bought the property from Ellen DeGeneres). Style of the house is said to be French Country and privacy is not an issue, given the stone walls that surround the two acres of property. McCartney's main residence is a farmhouse in England that he used to share with Linda, though they also had a spread in Tucson. As for the 29-year-old Stella, her deal, according to reports, could give her as much as a 49 percent stake in her clothing line business. She is already credited with helping turn around the fortunes of Chloe, whose sales quadrupled since she joined the house as head designer.
