They came, they saw, they acted kooky. On Friday, a small tribe of wannabe "Survivor 3" contestants descended upon the Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in Jackson, N.J., where CBS held tryouts for the third edition of the network's smash reality series. One man who auditioned, Sean E. Mills, 22, known to his friends as "Woogie," wore a chicken-shaped hat and told The New York Times: "I'm goofy. And when you don't have any food, being goofy is what gets you through. It helps you survive. And did I mention that I can dance?" About 350 "Survivor" fans were accorded the chance to take a three-minute videotape, presenting their reasons why they should be shipped off to some remote outpost of the world, have their mettle tested and aim for nabbing a $1 million prize. Other auditions are to be held around the rest of the country.
