Emmy-winning "The West Wing" writer-producer Aaron Sorkin, 39, was arrested Sunday at Burbank Airport for investigation of drug possession, officials said Monday. At about 3:15 p.m., Sorkin was detained by airport security after "illicit mushrooms" were discovered in his carry-on baggage during a pre-flight inspection, said airport spokesman Victor Gill. Gill declined to confirm the amount of mushrooms that Sorkin was allegedly carrying. After the arrest, Sorkin was taken to Burbank's city jail, where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance. He was released three hours later on $10,000 bail, Gill said. Arraignment is set for April 30. "I am glad to be surrounded by such a supportive group of people, and I am prepared to proceed as directed by my attorney and in the best interest of my family," Sorkin said in a statement. More than five years ago, Sorkin checked himself into a treatment center for cocaine addiction, says the Hollywood Reporter.
