Sting's Plane Skids

04/01/1998 at 12:00 AM EST

A small Cessna carrying Sting, two pilots and a friend of the star skidded off the runway while trying to land at Italy's Florence airport on Monday, an airport official told Italian news agency ANSA. No one was injured. "The plane ended off the runway, but Sting was not hurt and has left," a Florence airport official told Reuters. The plane came to a halt about 90 feet at the end of the runway. By then it had smashed through a fence and ended up in a grassy field. After the incident, Sting, 49, and the unidentified friend reportedly headed for the musician's villa in Tuscany.
