Britney's Site: 14 and Over
Children under 14 will need parental permission before visiting Britney Spears's official Web site, thanks to the Better Business Bureau's new children's advertising review. According to that group's director, Elizabeth Lascoutx, Britney's site has been modified to comply with a recently enacted federal law protecting children's online privacy, reports Reuters. The guards specifically refer to the site's request for personal information and use of interactive features such as its message boards, which will now require a parent's permission. "This is our voluntary system," Lascoutx said. As recently as Monday morning, the message boards and e-mail service were "temporarily closed for maintenance," said a notice posted on the Spears site. "We will be back as soon as we can."
