"Frasier" star Peri Gilpin, 39, who plays Roz on the sitcom, and ex-"Starsky and Hutch" star Paul Michael Glaser, 58, were crusading on Capitol Hill for their respective causes on Tuesday and Wednesday, reports The Washington Post. In Gilpin's case, it was breast cancer. Glaser, meanwhile, is chairman of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. (The actor's wife and 7-year-old daughter both died of AIDS. He also has a 16-year-old son who is HIV positive.) Tuesday, he testified before a Senate committee on the need for continued federal incentives for drug companies to test and develop pharmaceuticals to combat childhood disease, says The Post. On Wednesday morning, Gilpin held a National Breast Cancer Coalition news conference on the steps of the Capitol. "My mother passed away from cancer," she told the Post before the gathering. "My agent is a survivor, and my publicist lost his mother to breast cancer . . . There are a lot of good people lobbying to obtain big money that only government can provide."
