Robert Johnston, 85, an engineer known as a master of designing foundations for some of New York's most important buildings (Chase Manhattan Bank headquarters, Battery Park City), at his home in Millbrook NY, Dec. 4. His other credits outside the city include the Alcoa and United States Steel headquarters buildings in Pittsburgh.
