Robert Shaw, the extraordinary choral and orchestra conductor who occupied a prominent position in American music for more than 50 years, of a stroke, Monday, in New Haven CT. He lived in Atlanta and was 82 ... Sarah (Sadie) Delany, a slave's daughter who, along with her late sister Bessie (who died in 1995 at the age of 104), told of their long lives in the 1993 best-selling memoir "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years," peacefully in her sleep, Monday, at her home in Mt. Vernon NY. She was 109.
