Dame Iris Murdoch, whose macabre yet comic sensibility made her one of Britain's most admired modern novelists, Monday, in London. She was 79 and had suffered for years from Alzheimer's disease ... Bobby Troup, a musician and actor who penned the popular song "Route 66" and played a neurosurgeon on the 1970s TV drama "Emergency" (co-starring his wife, actress-singer Julie London, who played Nurse Dixie), Sunday, in Los Angeles. He was 80.
