GENE SARAZEN, 97, the elegant "Squire" of golf in the 1920s and '30s (who invented the sand wedge club and was the first player to win all four of the sport's major championships), Thursday, of pneumonia, in Naples, Fla. . . . Pulitzer Prize-winning editor and writer MEG GREENFIELD, 68, who ran the editorial page at The Washington Post for 20 years, Thursday, of lung cancer. She was also a columnist for Newsweek magazine since 1974.
